The very first time I went to the California entertainment work permit office in Van Nuys, I remember wishing I had more information. I wished I knew what the building hosting the entertainment work permit office looked like and exactly where it was.
I also wished I knew where to park. And I wished I knew where to find the entertainment work permit office once I got to the building.
I take a journey to the entertainment work permit office about every 6 months to get my daughter’s work permit renewed. The last time I went, I decided to take a few pictures to share with visitors to my site.
Now, when you go to get your child a California work permit you’ll know exactly what the building looks like and where to go when you get there.
You can read all about who needs to get an entertainment work permit and how to get one in my previous posts on this topic (see “How Do You Get a Child Entertainment Work Permit in Southern California?,” “How Do You Renew Your Child’s Entertainment Work Permit?, and “Do You Need an Entertainment Work Permit for Your Child Actor?” )
So, are you wondering exactly “Where Is the California Entertainment Work Permit Office in Van Nuys?”
The entertainment work permit office is located in the State Office Building at 6150 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA.
The entrance to the building is located at the corner of Calvert Street and Van Nuys Blvd.
Here are some pictures that I took in and around the State Office Building, including the main entrance, the entertainment work permit office, and some parking lots and streets nearby.
There is metered street parking on Calvart Street as well as a couple of the other nearby side streets. There are some parking lots nearby, but the cost for parking in the parking lots is much greater than the 3 or 4 quarters typically needed for the parking meters on the streets there. The State Office Bldg. lot charges $2.00 for each 20 minutes or $10.00 for the day as you can see!
The following pictures show two views of the main entrance into the California Entertainment Work Permit Office. This entrance faces Calvert Street, almost directly at the corner of Van Nuys Blvd and Calvert Street.
You can walk directly into the large main entrance shown above. Note that the Entertainment Work Permit Office is Suite 100 and is just inside the entrance and to your left.
When you see the Entertainment Work Permit Office, just walk inside and proceed directly to the window to your left. A receptionist will take your completed entertainment work permit application and supporting documentation and answer any questions you may have.
Your work permit application will then be processed, and you will be presented with your child’s official California Entertainment Work Permit. It will be dated with the current day’s date and will be valid for 6 months.
Be sure to arrive early in the day so that (hopefully) you’ll be able to get your child’s official California Entertainment Work Permit the same day. Usually you can be in and out in less than an hour, but at busy times of the year there will be a longer wait.
Also, make sure you’ve brought all the needed documentation and that the application is filled out completely and accurately. If there are any problems, you’ll be sent away to fix them and bring the application back at a later time.
If your child is homeschooled, there is a requirement for additional documentation in the form of an affadavit to provide proof that your child is homeschooled and for verification of your child’s enrollment and grades.

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours these days, but I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours. It’s beautiful worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made good content material as you probably did, the internet might be much more useful than ever before.

I just want to say “Thank you!!!!”. I went to the Van Nuys office for the first time today (because I procrastinated and needed the permit asap). This was soooo helpful, especially the advice on metered parking and where the entrance faced. After driving an hour to get there is was so nice to not have to circle the block because I passed the building or didn’t know where I was going :). Thanks again!

Hi Christina,
I am so glad my information helped you! That is what I hoped to do when I wrote this post — because I remember the frustration and even utter panic I felt as I tried to figure things out on my own. Take care, and good luck with everything.

Yes, I’ve covered that in another post “What’s New in the California Entertainment Work Permit Office?” I can’t recall the exact hours, but take a look at that post in the bottom several paragraphs where I addressed the changes that have occurred in the work permit office recently. I have the current hours highlighted. Hope that helps!
Warm regards,
Debbie
